O.K., right now I know of four candidates who have announced they are running for councilman here in the south, John James, Tharien K. Arnold and Oscar James, Jr. and possibly Donald Bradley.. Bradley may be in the race if John James runs At-Large as Sharpe spoke of this weekend on NJN.
Anyway, who do you guys think is the best qualified to represent us of the four? Last edited by ProSouth; 01-25-2006 at 12:40 PM. |

The sad thing in the SW is that all the candidates you mentioned are fairly young compared to the elder Bradley. I think because they are all fairly new to the political arena in the SW, they will cancell each other out and Bradley will win on the first ballot. I think if maybe some of the candidates pool resources and come together they will have a more formiable approach and realistically have a shot to win. I have lived in the SW practically all my life, and it appears that Bradley is soo popular. If the young vote comes out, it can make a difference, but right now it appears Bradley has a lock.
I havent seen too much of the 3 other candidates platform. I have seen John at several community mtgs, etc. But right now, with the SW being the most violent in the city, anything beats Bradley.

Let's say all four enter that race (although I doubt Bradley would run against Jet Ski), I'm certain that race would go to a runoff. Those are all okay young candidates and I think they can COLLECTIVELY take down Bradley (note: I haven't look at his ELECs lately, but I remember him having quite a bit of money.) If the young guns make a pact to endorse the best of the 3 and share their information AFTER May 9th for the runoff, then someone from that crew should be able to take down senior moments.

Arnold should be on Booker's ticket. Booker dissed him for Oscar, played politics just like Sharpe. This is the reason why I will compaign for Karim while telling people NOT to vote for Booker or Oscar. I think Booker is underestimating Arnold in the South. |

.He's 24, no work or entrepreneurial experience and 2 years out of college. Unlike Willie Lynch, youth is not a prerequisite for office...but a precursor for disaster. I cannot entrust my house and my community to someone based on enthusiasm and energy. We are the largest and best ward. His literature and guest appearance at community events does not demonstrate leadership but opportunist. Besides, how can a person criticize a system; consider it corrupt (His father, a convicted felon and theft at Symphony Hall) but use it on his literature. Not proven, not creditable for my city

Besides the fact that OSJ, II is a young hot head without a job and very immature. I'm telling everyone I know not to vote for Oscar James II in the South. When they ask me why I direct them to his website and tell them to ask themselves five very important questions: 1. Can you let a recent college grad with NO job and no property in the South govern what happens to your children, your hard earned property, etc. 2. Why is Oscar James, II now a Booker convert when 4 years ago he was ripping down Booker signs? Is he just taking advantage of an available opportunity? 3. Based strictly on what you read on his website, does he give you enough information to effectively compare his resume/accomplishments/qualifications to the other South Ward candidates? And if you can't ask yourself why not? 4. If Booker had more qualified people on his team from the South Ward and really cared about the South Ward, why would Booker run someone with the least qualifications? 5. Does Oscar James, II know any Black people?

Pro, we'll see how it plays out. Donald and JJ aren't exactly heavyweights despite family ties and incumbency, so maybe OJ II is strong enough to win. We'll see.
