Default $80 M Confrontation with Ras, James & Corzine

Quote from Ras with mayor and council in tow: on NBC 4 6 o'clock news "...you didn't elect me, I was elected by the citizens of Newark to..." IS HE REALLY SERIOUS? HE WASN'T ELECTED!!! HE WAS "VOTED FOR" BUT FAILED AT THE BALLOT BOX. HE'S NOW FAILED AS A PEOPLE POLITICIAN CARRYING SHARPE'S SCHEME THIS FAR!!! MAYBE THAT'S WHY HE FEELS COMFORTABLE STEALING OUR MONEY!!!

This is a breathtaking embarrassment!

How dare these imbeciles in our name go up to the Governor in the name of Newarkers to sell this POWER GRAB as some sort of altruistic feel-good program.

As the reporter intoned at the end, all they would have to do is appropiate the spending in the city's budget... but the budget would be voted on by the new city council and mayor so that obviously is a no go.

WAKE UP NEWARK. THESE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO ABSCOND WITH 13% OF YOUR MONEY FROM A SETTLEMENT THAT WAS TOO SMALL IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE MAYOR PLANNED THIS ALL ALONG WHEN HE KNEW HE WASN'T RUNNING. Threw Rice under the bus... everything!!!

There is absolute NO NEED to assign this money to an unregulated board controlled by the mayor, council and other cronies. NO NEED -- THE MONEY DOESN'T DISAPPEAR!! THEY ARE STANDING FOR ELECTION; LET THEM FIGHT LIKE MEN AND WOMEN INSTEAD OF THESE UNDERHANDED DEALINGS.

WAKE UP NEWARK!!!!!!!

RAS IS TOAST!!!!!

I'M MAD AS HELL OVER THIS IGNORANT DISPLAY OF A BLATANT POWER GRAB! THIS NOT ABOUT THE CITIZENS.

THIS IS DISGUSTING. ALL THESE FOLKS MUST GO!!!!

Crap! I missed NBC's coverage. I was on NJN watching their footage.

Yeah, Ras has fallen off greatly in my book.

Ras was "elected" by Mamie, Charlie, Bessie, Hector and, of course...tada...the Council President Crook Donald "Make Things Go Away" Bradley.

I can't believe Ras went on television crying about a SLUSH FUND and then saying that HE was "elected." LMOA - I love Newark politics.

Default BUDGET PASSED YET?

Have these backward race-baiting stealers even passed a budget yet?

With so much stuff truly predicated on race, these folks got the nerve to invoke race because the governor didn't collapse on this stealing scheme!!!

This is the most embarrassing moment since these idiots marched around Beth Israel Hospital. These folks make Newark look ignorant! Time to prove them wrong!!

How can you appropriate money when you haven't even passed a budget? That's like buying a plasma TV for your Gomes townhouse before you pay the rent!!!

Neither Candidate Rice nor Candidate Booker is for this $80 million money grab.

The coonery of this Incompetent Council is too much for BET. These imbeciles will go to almost any lengths to embarass us. They are shameless.

Dude, what don't they get about this? It's a SLUSH FUND. And any projects from that are FRUIT OF THE POISONED SLUSH FUNDS.

Default Bradley Threatens -- Quote from Star-Ledger and NJ.com

Despite accusations of political meddling and a threat of civil disobedience from Council President Donald Bradley

Shouldn't he be hiding out somewhere afraid of getting his head whupped by Chris Christie?!!!

I can't believe the level of hubris in these officials. Making themselves the HIGHE$T PAID (ker-ching!!) council in the land for a city Newark's size and poverty is completely in line with the thinking of these kats. Glad Bradley ain't running.

As for the rest... THEY ALL MUST GO! Did Chaneyfield go with these fools? If she didn't, she's closer to my vote.

The Crooks Didn't Want Cameras
http://newark06.blogs.nytimes.com/

Of course they didn't. They wanted to make up their own spin (like Sharpe does) after the event. As Chief "Drug Dealers are Not a Priority" once said in a meeting, "The bad guys hate light." How right you are, Chief. How right you are.

My goodness, is this the way these guys are going to end their careers? They are a shameless group. Truly, truly shameless.

Frankly, I blame us (Newarkers) for this. We have not held them accountable for so long that this is what you end up with it. I accept my part of the blame and I will reconcile this mistake soon.

Default This is utterly priceless, people!

Corzine must have been shaking in his boots at the threat of "civil unrest" leveled against him by none other than Don Bradley.

http://www.nj.com/newslogs/starledge...04.html#135105

<<Corzine stands firm in session with Newark leaders

During an unusual meeting this morning in Trenton between Gov. Jon Corzine, Newark Mayor Sharpe James and eight members of the city council, Corzine today refused to back down from his position that Newark cannot spend $33.5 million on special projects before adopting a 2006 budget.

Despite accusations of political meddling and a threat of civil disobedience from Council President Donald Bradley, Corzine stood firm that the projects set to receive funding - including the Newark Public Library and Newark Symphony Hall - do not meet the criteria of "temporary emergency appropriations" as outlined in the state's local finance law. Therefore, the governor said, they cannot be approved under state law.

The decision angered several council members, who said the governor is being insensitive to the needs of Newark's citizens. They also questioned why the state was taking such a keen interest in Newark's finances two weeks before a hotly contested election and demanded to know why the city was being singled out for criticism.

More than one council member threatened to spend the money anyway and let the state fight the city in court.

As the tenor of the meeting grew more acrimonious, James asked the governor to make staff available this afternoon to hammer out a compromise. Corzine agreed and since 1 p.m. city and state officials have been behind closed doors trying to reach an agreement.>>

Eight out of nine Council were there. Does that mean they converted Chaneyfield too?! I was hoping that her no-shows meant something. I do appreciate it's hard to take a stand with Sharpe's nasty ways.

Bessie Walker is a public embarrassment!

Again, this has nothing to do with spending money for some of Newark's many, many needs (I'm not sure Symphony Hall or the Library should be priorities considering the state of the city... but that's another story).

It's about WHO CONTROLS IT. Why should SOON TO BE FORMER Mayor James have any more control over the CITIZEN'S money?? He's had his 20 years at bat. He's trying to cripple US--not Cory Booker--but US!

He HATES this man so much that I believe if he could get away with carpet bombing Brick Towers it wouldn't matter how many innocents got killed as long as he got Cory Booker!

This is MAD!

I'm sure when old crook Bradley threatened civil unrest Corzine was sitting there like, "Man, these guys are really jumping the shark." I was waiting for my man to say, "I can make the council go away."

Note: I saw Gayle there; she was siting next to big Bessie who was standing behind her. I believe the person I did not see was Corchado.

Also - here's what gets me. These thieves were crying about "the kids" and "summer jobs" to justify their ILLEGAL 80 MILLION DOLLAR SLUSH FUND. Ras was sitting there saying, "Don't you watch the television?" This rhetorical quesiton was in response to how the council BROKE THE LAW when forming these ILLEGAL PHONY NONPROFITS. Well - that's the way the want to go out, then sooo be it.

1. Why now?
2. Why 80 MILLION?
3. Why in 48 hours?

You see, no amount of noise can change that. And look - these guys used an emergency appropriation legislation to avoid PUBLIC input. It wasn't because there was an emergency. And be clear - these fools STILL haven't passed a budget. So how is it they can spend 80 MILLION DOLLARS in 48 hours, then spend ANOTHER $23G to reaffirm their lie, but they can't do their primary duty pass the budget.
