{"id":915,"date":"2018-05-30T05:48:18","date_gmt":"2018-05-30T05:48:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newarkspeaks.com\/?p=915"},"modified":"2018-07-07T17:43:43","modified_gmt":"2018-07-07T17:43:43","slug":"its-official-mars-wrigley-signs-lease-will-move-into-ironside-newark-in-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newarkspeaks.com\/index.php\/2018\/05\/30\/its-official-mars-wrigley-signs-lease-will-move-into-ironside-newark-in-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"It\u2019s official: Mars Wrigley signs lease, will move into Ironside Newark in 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0Tom Bergeron<\/p>\n<p>In a move that has been expected since last November,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mars.com\/global\/brands\/confectionery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mars Wrigley Confectionery<\/a>\u00a0has signed a lease to become a major tenant at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ironsidenewark.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ironside Newark<\/a>, ROI-NJ has learned.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Sommer, executive vice president for development for\u00a0Edison Properties, which owns the building, confirmed the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can confirm that we have signed Mars Wrigley Confectionery at Ironside Newark,\u201d Sommer said. \u201cEdison Properties is obviously thrilled and we look forward to welcoming them in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials for Mars Wrigley Confectionery were not immediately available for comment, but the company did announce the move to the staff at its Hackettstown location last winter.<\/p>\n<p>The planned move was\u00a0first reported by ROI-NJ on Nov. 10\u00a0last year.<\/p>\n<p>Mars Wrigley Confectionery received a\u00a010-year, $31 million Grow New Jersey grant a few days later.<\/p>\n<p>Ironside Newark will anchor the Mulberry Commons project \u2014 a $10 million, 22-acre park that will connect the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prucenter.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prudential Center<\/a>\u00a0to Penn Station. The building will sit right off McCarter Highway.<\/p>\n<p>The project will transform the long-vacant warehouse formerly known as the Newark Warehouse Co. Building. It will have more than 450,000 square feet of office and retail space available.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.us.jll.com\/united-states\/en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JLL<\/a>\u00a0is handling the office leasing while\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.piersonre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pierson Commercial<\/a>\u00a0will handle the retail leasing. Jeff Babikian of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbre.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBRE<\/a>\u00a0represented Mars Wrigley on the transaction.<\/p>\n<p>No other tenants have been announced, though it has been widely reported that Edison Properties will move its corporate offices there.<\/p>\n<p>Newark officials were thrilled with Mars Wrigley Confectionery announced its plans to move to the staff last winter.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Sen.
